Alligator Reef Snorkeling in Islamorada
Snorkel one of the most beautiful reefs in the Florida Keys with your local Mermaid crew.
Snorkel the Iconic Alligator Reef
Alligator Reef is one of the most famous and beautiful reefs in the Florida Keys, and it is right here in our Islamorada backyard. We built Morada Mermaid to share the water we love, so when you climb aboard you are not a reservation number. You are our guest, and our local crew is with you from the first fin kick.
Once we reach the reef, we hand you your gear and get you set for a relaxed, unhurried snorkel. Float over colorful coral gardens, drift alongside schools of tropical fish and keep your eyes open for the rays and sea turtles that call these waters home. Every trip is its own adventure, so you never quite know what the reef will show you.
First time in a mask? Perfect. Before you get in, our captain and first mate walk you through exactly how to approach snorkeling in the open ocean, from clearing your mask to reading the water. We do not put guides in the water with you. Instead our crew keeps a close eye on every snorkeler from the boat, so from curious kids to seasoned snorkelers, everyone stays comfortable and safe.
Coral & fish
Glide over vibrant coral gardens and swim through schools of tropical fish in gin-clear Islamorada water.

These waters are full of life. On many trips we spot rays cruising the bottom and sea turtles gliding by.
Crew & gear
Masks, fins and snorkels are provided, and our captain and first mate keep watch from the boat the whole time. No full-faced masks, for safety.
Alligator Reef snorkeling questions
Not at all. Whether you are a first timer or an experienced snorkeler, our captain and first mate share expert tips on how to approach snorkeling in the ocean before you get in, then keep a close eye on everyone from the boat. Beginners are always welcome.
